Society of Dilettanti


These stipple engravings are  from the rare first edition elephant folio of the Society of Dilettanti. The Society of Dilettanti was a London dining club that also supported Italian opera and launched archeological expeditions. One of their publications was "Ionian Antiquities." These prints are from another folio of sculptures titled "Specimens of antient sculpture, : Aegyptian, Etruscan, Greek, and Roman: / selected from different collections in Great Britain," by the Society of Dilettanti
