Stewart Klonis

Stewart Klonis drawings from the 1940s. They show a cubist influence and a distinct sculptural quality. He was an employee of the Guggenheim Brothers Brokerage House and studied painting at night  at the Art Students League in the 1930s and was elected president of the League in 1937 and executive director in 1946. His background in business and economics brought discipline to the Leagues finances and prevented its demise which seemed possible when he joined. He served as executive director until he retired at the age of 80. New York Times obituary. The drawings are for sale on Ebay.
