Anatomie artistique; description des formes extérieures du corps humain

Anatomie artistique; description des formes extérieures du corps humain au Repos et dans les Principaux Mouvements - By Paul Marie Louis Pierre Richer.

EXTERNAL FORMS OF THE TRUNK

To bring some clarity in the description of the outward forms of the trunk, it is absolutely necessary to subdivide it into several regions. We will follow the overall plan adopted by Gerdy, but introducing some changes especially tend to simplify.

Body parts as a common measure.

Here is a review from La Chronique médicale, 1899:

The Artistic Anatomy of Dr. Richer collected the most flattering votes in both the art world and in the assemblies. Artists such as Dalou, Gérôme, Bouguereau.Chaplain, approved highly of the thought which governed the making of this masterful Implementation.

The method of Dr. Richer is, moreover, called in the near future, to receive its official dedication in teaching. Its clarity, logic and precision ensure its future success. This method is the analytical method, one that proceeds from easy to complex, from the bone surfaces of the part to the whole, the known to the unknown. From center to periphery, we see the skeleton is covered successively coatings muscular, muscles deep muscles of the middle layer, and superficial muscles.
