The Male Figure

100 Artists of the Male Figure: A Contemporary Anthology of Painting, Drawing, and SculptureI received a review copy of 100 Artists of the Male Figure: A Contemporary Anthology of Painting, Drawing, and Sculpture, by E. Gibbons with an introduction by Grady Harp, published by Schiffer Books which publishes a large catalog of specialty art and architecture books.

It is a beautifully produced book with multiple examples of the work of each of the artists. The artists selected often specialize in the male figure. The works which I like the most combine an interest in the figure with a handling of paint which indicates an immersion in the technique. That is a matter of personal preference. You should check out the book yourself.

The introduction is informative and each artist has the chance to make a statement about his or her work.

Here are a few of the examples that I like.
